Pursuant to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related laws and regulations, First Step House will not exclude from participation in, deny the benefits of, or subject to discrimination anyone on the grounds of race, color and national origin.
First Step House has established a discrimination complaint procedure and will take prompt and reasonable action to investigate and eliminate discrimination when found. Any person who believes that he or she has been aggrieved by an unlawful discriminatory practice under Title VI has a right to file a formal complaint with First Step House. Any such complaint must be in writing and filed with the First Step House Title VI Coordinator within one hundred eighty (180) calendar days following the date of the alleged discriminatory occurrence. For more information, please contact the First Step House’s Title VI Coordinator. Complaints may also be filed at the local level, with the Wasatch Front Regional Council Title VI Administrator.
Pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and related federal and state laws and regulations, First Step House will make every effort to ensure that its facilities, programs, services, and activities are accessible to those with disabilities. First Step House will provide reasonable accommodation to disabled individuals who wish to participate in public involvement events or who require special assistance to access First Step House facilities, programs, services or activities. Because providing reasonable accommodation may require outside assistance, organization or resources, First Step House asks that requests be made at least five (5) calendar days prior to the need for accommodation. Questions, concerns, comments or requests for accommodation should be made to First Step House’s ADA Coordinator. Services are provided free without charge for individuals with special needs with disabilities. Any fees will be paid by the recipient or subrecipient. The public will have access to translators, “I Speak Cards”, TTY/TDD services and vital documents translated when requested.
