At First Step House, the work is demanding and deeply meaningful. Every role contributes to helping people achieve recovery, housing, and stability. We hold ourselves accountable to outcomes, but we also look out for each other.
At First Step House, "We help people build lives of meaning, purpose, and recovery." We are dedicated to helping individuals overcome barriers, achieve stability, and build meaningful lives in recovery.
Are you passionate about helping people navigate the intersection of recovery, the legal system, and community resources? The Specialty Court Case Manager serves individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and are involved with specialty courts and supervision programs, including Family Drug Court, Family Recovery Court, Mental Health Court, and other specialty court programs.
In this role, you'll provide hands-on case management while serving as an important liaison between First Step House and specialty courts, legal agencies, and supervision programs. You'll help clients navigate their treatment requirements, connect them with housing and community resources, and advocate for their progress in treatment.
You'll also have the opportunity to build strong partnerships with courts and legal entities, attend court proceedings, communicate treatment progress, and help ensure clients receive the support they need to successfully meet their program requirements.

There are days that the job is hard, but I think the reward outweighs how hard the job is. The reward of seeing people smile, seeing people come to the front desk and say, ‘thank you guys for everything you do –you’ve really helped me for the day.’
First Step is a great place to come if you truly want to feel like you’re making a difference. It’s really awesome coming to work everyday knowing that I’m valued and that I’m cared for and that not just my work life is important but overall.
Not only does First Step invest so much in their clients and wraparound services to set them up for success, but they do the same with employees. They give us generous time off and really encourage good like work-life balance which is so needed in this field.
I work at First Step House because I feel valued and feel like I’m giving back to my community.
The things I like most about First Step House and my job are that I get to see clients come into the building with no hope at all, and I get to watch them go from no hope to having all the hope in the world, a place to live, a job, and having a fresh life.
If you want your work to mean something, you’re in the right place.
