We're seeking a Medical Assistant who is passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare to a vulnerable population. In this role, you'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team to support patients throughout their recovery journey by delivering direct patient care, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring every individual feels respected, heard, and cared for.

Whether you're preparing patients for appointments, administering vaccines, performing phlebotomy, or supporting providers behind the scenes, you'll play an essential role in helping people build healthier futures.

Salary: $48,000–$51,000 annually, depending on experience.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and maintain patient charts in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Check in patients and document visits accurately
  • Provide direct patient care under provider direction
  • Take vital signs and identify urgent medical concerns
  • Administer immunizations and medications in accordance with Utah law and safe medication practices
  • Perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and laboratory processing
  • Support infection prevention and patient safety practices
  • Respond to patient phone calls and coordinate follow-up care
  • Assist with vaccine clinics at First Step House locations
  • Safely operate and maintain medical equipment
  • Inventory and transport admission medications
  • Monitor medication refrigerator temperatures
  • Collaborate closely with medical providers and the interdisciplinary care team
  • Help create a welcoming, safe, and therapeutic environment for every patient

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Certified Medical Assistant (preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
  • Experience in a medical setting (preferred)
  • Experience with phlebotomy and laboratory processing (preferred)
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders or behavioral health challenges (preferred)
